I've always enjoyed reading Mike Fuchs column Savvy Shopper in the Greensboro News & Record, which highlights retail news and deals in the Triad. A few years ago he began The Bargain Blog, which is a roundup of the best deals out there, with a focus on the Triad. I use a ton of resources for Piedmont Triad Living, and the Bargain Blog was the only place I found the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile visit in Greensboro last Friday! I read Savvy Shopper and The Bargain Blog because they help me support locally owned businesses. Another resource I use to support local artists and craftspeople is the Shop Local feature on Etsy. This is a fantastic, worldwide host for handmade and vintage sellers. Etsy makes it easy to shop local-- there are hundreds of artists and crafters from the Piedmont Triad with a shop on this site! You can always find featured local artists on the right-side column of this blog under the "Shop Piedmont Triad Local Artists and Artisans" column. Click on a picture and it will bring you straight to their shop!
