Share the Health Fair: FREE Health Screenings in Winston-Salem on January 12, 2013

Saturday, January 12, 2013 marks the 14th Annual Share the Health Fair, with free health screenings, health education, and physician consults to the public.  The health fair is hosted every year by medical students from the Wake Forest School of Medicine, and last year served over 650 children, women and men.

Anyone and everyone of all ages are welcome to attend the health fair, regardless of health insurance coverage, income or immigration status.  The goal is for everyone to have  a yearly check-up, receive education about your health and catch potential health problems before they become serious health issues.

There is plenty of free, easy parking and you do not need to pre-register.  Just show up between 10am-3:30pm.  You do not need to find a baby sitter!  There are health screenings for children and adults, and there are lots of activities for the children, including an area to learn about and make healthy snacks and an arts and crafts area.  Free children's books will also be given.

The following screenings will be available for free at the health fair:

  • HIV & Syphilis
  • Height, Weight & Body Mass Index
  • Blood Pressure
  • Blood Sugar (diabetes)
  • Cholesterol
  • Vision
  • Glaucoma
  • Hearing
  • Asthma (lung function)
  • Bone Density (osteoporosis)

  • ... and more

The health fair will take place at
