Friday, September 3
Hickory-- Fair Time!  The Hickory American Legion Fair begins at the Hickory Fairgrounds, and is running September 1-September 6.  Admission is $5.00 ages 7-17, and $7.00 ages 18+, and Senior Citizen Day is Friday from Noon-5:00pm.  See here for concert information.  Concerts start at 9:00pm, with fireworks afterward! 

Winston-Salem--  Poetry in the Park takes place at Winston Square Park, 301 Marshall St.  This is a free family event where you can come listen or share your own words!  3:30pm-7:00pm
Greensboro-- First Friday Indie Market is an open market of handmade and vintage sellers at the corner of South Elm and MLK that is held the first Friday of April-December from 4:00pm-9:00pm.  The Indie Market features local artists and craftspeople, many of which also have Etsy shops!


Winston-Salem-- Reynolda House Museum of American Art  is having Cinema Under the Stars on Friday starting at 9:00pm.  Tonight's film will be The Birds, and director and Hitchcock authority Peter Bogdanovich will make remarks beforehand.  The fee is $5.00, $3.00 for members and students.
 

Saturday, September 4
Race Cars by McCoy Toys
North Wilkesboro--Gates open at 7:00am for the Labor Day Classic at the North Wilkesboro Speedway!  This short track opened in 1947 and  held NASCAR races there beginning in 1949.  The track closed in 1996, and this will be the first event at since. There will over twenty cars for an open testing session, including the PASS Super Late Models, Stadium Stock, Limited Late Models, and Allison Legacy.  Practice starts at 9:00am and the green flag will be thrown at 2:00pm.  Buy tickets here!
Kernersville--  K'ville Indie Flea featuring local artists and artisans, Cherry Street, Saturdays April-October 8am-2pm
Greensboro--  Children's Storytelling and Reading Hour begins at 11:am in the International Civil Rights Center on South Elm Street.  Each Saturday leaders from the community join in storytelling and reading, with books for children especially between the ages of 5-12.  Afterward, the children will make their own arts activity to take home.  The fee for access to the reading hour is $6.00 for adults, seniors, and students and $4.00 for youth.  Find out more here!
Greensboro--  This is Living History Weekend at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.  The public is invited as the men and women of the Guilford Militia present a variety of interpretive programs clad in replica Revolutionary War clothing and carry the firearms of 1781 while living the life of the 1780's soldier and camp follower.  The camp will be at tour stop #6 from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.  There are no parking or entrance fees.

Sunday, September 5
Sandy Ridge-- The Hare Krishna Temple sponsors a Sunday Feast each week from 3:00pm-6:00pm.  This fun day includes song and dance, presentations, interpretations, and a full meal afterward.  There is no admission charge, although donations are welcome.
Burlington--  The Burlington Farmers' Market  runs every Sunday through September.  This market at Burlington Outlet Village features local farmers, this week featuring delicious farm-fresh asparagus, yellow crook neck squash, zucchini, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, strawberries, cabbage, broccoli, potatoes, green beans, lettuce, scallions, radishes, kale, swiss chard and much more.  There are also talented artisans with handmade jewelry, painted decorative items, and more!
Greensboro-- Carolina Model Railroaders opens the club every Sunday from 2:00pm-5:00pm.  Located at the Depot on East Washington Street, this is another free event for the family.
