Winston-Salem History: The Coffee Pot

In anticipation of Winston-Salem's Centennial Celebration, the city is sharing tidbits of history with video.

Everybody in our area knows the coffee pot, but do you know it's history?  It was erected in 1858 as an advertisement for a tin shop.  In the last 155 years it has been been moved several times, knocked over by an errant Ford and nearly discarded, and damaged by weather.  Now it stands in a grassy triangle off South Main Street, just outside of historical Old Salem.

I've taken a few photos of the coffee pot myself!

This photo was taken November 2012.  The leaves were in full autumn color!

And this one taken in August 2010

Do you have a favorite photo that you've taken of the coffee pot?  We'd love to see it!
Upload it to our facebook page here and we'll add it to this page.
